Video Transfer Service to Digital

All video tape transfers are done in-house with care and attention. Your video cassette tapes are rewound and captured using professional video equipment, analog to digital converters and our custom built PCs.

For sharing online, editing or uploading to a cloud, you’ll want computer files. If you’d like to watch your videos on a DVD player, you’ll order a playable DVD.

MP4 file format is by far the most popular computer file; its cross-platform compatibility and small file size makes it the ideal choice for sharing videos online or for a backup archive. If you’re not concerned about storage and need a less compressed file, we also offer MOV or AVI files. There’s more information about file sizes below.

Two options for output: Computer file or playable DVD?

Video transfers have two choices for output: we can provide computer files that can be viewed on your computer and edited, or we can provide playable DVDs for watching on a DVD player or computer with a disc drive.

Computer File Output

  • Your choices are MP4 (PC/Mac/internet-ready & the most popular), MOV ( for Mac use), AVI (for PC use)

  • MP4 files are approx. 1.5 gb per hr

  • AVI & MOV files are approx. 14 gb per hr

  • All drives should be formatted NTFS or ExFat; we can format at no charge

  • Please supply an empty hard drive. We are not responsible for content on your drive

  • If you don’t have a drive to provide and would like one, you can purchase a 64GB thumb drive for $30 or 1TB external drive for $85

    OR

  • MP4 files can be uploaded to a temporary cloud service for $2 per 1gb of footage. It is your responsibility to download the files; they are not stored permanantely. We normally do not upload AVI or MOV due to the size of files

DVD or Blu-Ray Output

  • DVDs can be played on DVD player or on your computer

  • Not meant for editing

  • 2 hours of footage max per playable DVD

  • Chapter points every 5 minutes

  • HDV footage needs to be put on Blu-ray to maintain HD resolution

  • 10 hrs of Standard Definition video can go on a Blu-ray disc

  • Title slides can be added to the beginning, middle or end of your video footage

Read what our customers are saying about us!

“They were able to provide a truly amazing slide show for a life celebration that my whole family was thoroughly impressed by. Everyone was asking for their info as we all have memories that we need to have archived to pass on to our next generations. I couldn't recommend them any higher!”

— Andre B. Dublin, CA

“Sean and Andrea were great to work with. They took my old VHS cassette tapes, digitized them, and uploaded the mp4 video files to a secure server. Communication was excellent, price was fair and I'll certainly be back again. Thanks!”

— Robyn H. Oakland, CA

“They transferred 8mm film and a few old prints to digital video format and jpeg format. Unlike  many similar online services, this business does all transfer work in house. So there's less risk of your precious family analog memories getting lost in transit.”
